Saeed Abedini. Freed from an Iranian Prison+Iran Deal "Unconscionable" Because it Leaves Imprisoned American Pastor Saeed Behind. The agreement reached between the United States and Iran is "unconscionable" because it leaves Pastor Saeed, a U. S. citizen, behind – imprisoned in Iran because of his Christian faith. It is unconscionable that the Obama Administration would sign a deal with Iran without securing the freedom of Pastor Saeed who has been imprisoned for nearly three years simply because of his Christian faith. News, sports, features, obituaries, advertising, and special online features from the city's daily newspaper.Archives and past articles from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, and Philly.com. President Obama told the Abedini family face- to- face that he considered the release of Pastor Saeed a ‘top priority.’ How could that be a "top priority" when a deal is reached and Pastor Saeed is left behind? What happened today makes a bad deal even worse. We will now focus our attention on convincing Congress to reject this deal.".
Naghmeh Abedini, the wife of American Pastor Saeed, is deeply disappointed with today’s outcome. I plead with Congress to ensure that my husband, an American citizen, is not left behind. With the announcement of a deal and yet silence as to the fate of Saeed and the other Americans held hostage in Iran, their fate lies now in the hands of Congress. I plead with each member of Congress to review the deal with our family at the forefront of their thoughts. Congress holds the key to bringing my husband home, to returning the father to my children. My children have desperately missed the loving embrace of their father for the last three years of their lives. They have grown up almost half of their lives without their father. Please help us ensure the remainder of their childhood includes both a mother and a father. The State Department is A. W. O. L. – absent without leave – nearly silent about the devastating impact this "deal" has on the four wrongfully imprisoned Americans, including Pastor Saeed, left behind to suffer in harsh Iranian prison conditions. Secretary of State Kerry’s brief mention of the American hostages almost appears to be an afterthought. He stated. We continue to call on Iran to immediately release the detained U. S. citizens . . . These Americans have remained in our thoughts throughout this negotiation. And we will continue to work for their safe and their swift return. And we urge Iran to bring our missing Americans home as well.". They need more than our "thoughts." They deserve better than being relegated to the "sidelines." They need action. But the deal is not final. Congresses has a voice, a choice to approve this deal and abandon the Americans or to reject the deal and demand Iran free the Americans. We’re working directly in Congress, demanding Members of Congress vote to reject the deal. Already the House of Representatives and Senate have voted unanimously to demand Iran release Pastor Saeed and the other wrongfully imprisoned Americans. Now those same Members of Congress will have the opportunity to reject any deal until those American’s are freed. As part of our global campaign to free Pastor Saeed, we have heard from more than one million people demanding his release. Now we have a new petition directed at Congress. Please add your name today so we can tell your Members of Congress that their constituents are joining us in demanding they reject the deal and bring Pastor Saeed and the other Americans home. We continue to call on Iran to immediately release the detained U. S. citizens," Kerry said. These Americans have remained in our thoughts throughout this negotiation. And we will continue to work for their safe and their swift return. And we urge Iran to bring our missing Americans home as well."Publish Date: Tue, 1. Jul 2. 01. 5 1. 5: 1. GMTKeyword: Saeed+Pastor Saeed Abedini: Beaten and Forcibly Removed From Hospital & Returned to Iranian Prison. After spending two months in an Iranian hospital, we learned today that Pastor Saeed Abedini was removed from the hospital and taken back to Rajai Shahr Prison. The transfer came without any advance notice and family members in Iran confirmed that he was severely beaten at the hospital and then forcibly returned to prison. The reason for the transfer is unclear and according to family members, one of the guards who was involved in the transfer mentioned the Iranian nuclear talks as a possible motive. This is an extremely disappointing development - one that breaks my heart," said Naghmeh Abedini, Pastor Saeed's wife. Our family is deeply saddened and we continue to pray for Saeed - for his safety and his release. We are very grateful that so many people around the world continue to pray for Saeed.". When Pastor Saeed was transferred to the hospital in March, he was initially shackled by guards who lashed out violently against him. He was also denied medical treatment at that time and family members were prohibited from seeing him. Since then and in the weeks that followed, Pastor Saeed's situation at the hospital improved. Family members were permitted to visit with him frequently and he was provided with nutritional meals. Pastor Saeed, a U. S. citizen, turned 3. May 7th and his return to prison comes as efforts continue in this country and abroad to secure his release. Nearly 2. 60,0. 00 people from around the world already have signed on to our petition for his freedom. If you haven't done so, please add your name today. Publish Date: Tue, 2. May 2. 01. 4 1. 5: 5. GMTKeyword: Saeed+American Pastor Saeed Writes Easter Message as a Prisoner in the Darkness of Iran. American Pastor Saeed Abedini wrote the following Easter message from his hospital room serving an eight year sentence for his Christian faith in Iran. Crucifying the resurrected “self” with Christ and resurrects our death faith with Christ. Happy Resurrection Day. On the Eve of Good Friday and Easter I was praying from my hospital room for my fellow Christians in the world. What the Holy Spirit revealed to me in prayer was that there are many dead faiths in the midst of Christians today. That Christians all over the world are not able to fully reach their spiritual potential that has been given to them as a gift by God so that in reaching that potential, the curtain can be removed and the Glory of God would be revealed. Some times we want to experience the Glory and resurrection with Jesus without experiencing death with Him. We do not realize that unless we pass through the path of death with Christ, we are not able to experience resurrection with Christ. We want to have a good and successful marriage, career, education and family life (which is also God’s desire and plan for our life). But we forget that in order to experience the Resurrection and Glory of Christ we first have to experience death with Christ and to die to ourselves and selfish desires. Jesus said to His Disciples: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. Matthew 1. 6: 2. 4). This means that we should not do things that we like to do (that God does not want us to do) and to do things that we do not like to do (but God wants us to do) so that He may be glorified. So in addition to spending our days and night in doing the works of faith as described above, we should also transform our death faiths into living and active faiths through the resurrection of Christ which is an active and constructive love that is effective. In conclusion, let us resurrect our Dead faiths to living faiths by first dying to our selfish “resurrected” self and experiencing the cross of Jesus. Then we are able to experience the Glorious resurrection with Christ. A Glorious life with Christ starts only after a painful death (to self) with Christ. We will start with Christ. Please continue to pray for Pastor Saeed as we continue fighting for his release and sign the petition for his freedom. Publish Date: Sun, 2. Apr 2. 01. 4 0. 3: 1. At the same time, we are in the midst of the Passover season, the season of freedom for the Israelites. With Easter and Passover, we celebrate life, we celebrate freedom, and we celebrate our eternal hope. Yet as we celebrate, our brothers and sisters in Christ are suffering for their faith.
